I am Julie Morris and I spend my spare time creating art.
I have grown my art life by joining CABBI and the South Coast Pastel Society. I have weekly pastel lessons with Grace Paleg, do some plein air work and go to Saturday Social Art. By joining art groups I not only learn from others but also make new friends.
I have exhibited with Saturday Social Art at Batemans Bay Library in 2024 and The Gallery at Mogo, CABBI’s 40th and 41st Annual art Exhibition, the South Coast Pastel Society’s “Ode to the Masters” exhibition in 2025, The Digressionists in 2025 and the Australian Guild of Realist Artists (AGRA) exhibition in 2025 and 2026. I was awarded a student encouragement award by AGRA in 2026.
While raising my children I studied ceramics for 4 years at Nowra TAFE where I achieved the Tindala pottery award in 2000. My work was also published in the Pottery in Australia magazine in June 2000.
After TAFE, a weekly life drawing group gave me an artistic outlet. I also assisted with exhibitions at the Greenhouse Gallery in Milton.
I worked as a psychologist and studied an art therapy certificate, using art and play therapy to assist children and families with the effects of trauma.
I work mostly with acrylics, pastel and pencil, but also dabble in watercolours and various mixed media techniques with Saturday Social Art.
