Projects

Aileen Maloney

My work is constantly influenced by my wonderful local environment by the sea. While working with various media over many years I have constantly been drawn back to the design aspects of a Lino cut print.

Working with the “design” of a subject I simplify my drawings to design lines bringing the image back to what I feel is the essence of the subject.

I became very intrigued and “taken in” by my local Magpies. Their inquisitive looks on their daily visits, and wanting to have their say in what II was producing was so engaging. I would take photos and draw the image and then carve Lino tiles to make prints. I was becoming known as the “Magpie Lady!” even though I produce a variety of subjects. The strength of Black and White that is the positive and negative spaces, produced by this process has appealed to my approach to art.

I have exhibited my work in galleries in Sydney, Canberra, Braidwood, Berry, Cobargo, Narooma and Ulladulla and I have work in collections throughout the world.

My work has been selected for Corporate and Official Gifts both Nationally and Internationally. I have won various prizes for my work and created designs and logos for several businesses. I also sold my work at the Berry Markets, bringing “Art to the People”. I really enjoyed the contact with people who were attracted to my work and to hear their stories about their efforts in creating a Lino cut.
